Initially a sanctuary for native seabirds, located 55 kilometers north of Tahiti, the atoll of Tetiaroa was purchased by the late actor Marlon Brando in the late 70s. In 2014, the island was developed into a private retreat: The Brando, only accessible by catamaran or private plane.
